PBG-Jindal emerged winners of the Amity Polo Cup (6 Goals) beating Sahgal Stud-Sona by 8 goals to 7
In an exciting finals played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground as the concluding day of the Miele Delhi Fall Polo Season 2009. Prizes were given away by Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (Amity Group), Chairman, AKC Group of Companies to the players.
The finals played between Sahgal Stud-Sona and PBG-Jindal was an exciting and a interesting event of the Sunday afternoon. The packed stands enjoyed every moment of the final match. Both teams were played superbly to clinch the Cup. It was a display of great horsemanship and skill with the mallet and the ball. Shamsheer Ali opened the account for PBG-Jindal while Gaurav Sahgal opened by converting a 30 yard penalty for Sahgal Stud-Sona. Simran Shergill was other scorer for PBG-Jindal in 1st chukker. In the 2nd chukker Gaurav Sahgal and Abhimanyu Pathak scored one goal each for Sahgal Stud-Sona while Simran Shergill scored one goal for PBG-Jindal. The score was 3 goals each at the half time. In the 3rd chukker Shamsheer Ali converted a 30 yard penalty for PBG-Jindal to increase the lead while Rajesh Sahgal scored a brilliant goal to equalize the score. Shamsheer Ali again converted a 60 yard penalty for PBG-Jindal while Sunjay Kapur again equalized the score by scoring a goal and Gaurav Sahgal converted a 30 yard penalty to increase Sahgal Stud-Sona team’s lead. The score was 6 goals to 5 at the end of 3rd chukker. The last chukker was played at very fast pace, both teams came forward with their best horse power. Abhimanyu Pathak scored a goal for Sahgal Stud-Sona to increase the lead while Simran Shergill scored a goal and Shamsheer Ali converted a 30 yard penalty to equalize the score. During the dying second of the match Simran Shergill scored a brilliant winning goal for PBG-Jindal. The final score was 8 goals to 7. Scorers for PBG-Jindal were – Shamsheer Ali (4), Simran Shergill (4). Scorers for Sahgal Stud-Sona were – Abhimanyu Pathak (2), Gaurav Sahgal (3), Rajesh Sahgal (1), Sunjay J Kapur (1).
